Slums, slums…..dirt scavengers in Faridabad, India
Jun 4th, 2012 by admin
During my last business trip in Faridabad, India, I got exposed to poverty, which I have never seen in my life. Fortunately/unfortunately, this slum was directly next to my 4 star hotel. Direct view from my room window. Families and children (13 children below the age of 9) living at conditions, which are unbearable. Well, slums can be found almost every 5 mile around Delhi and Mumbai. After watching the kids through my window, “recycling” garbage from our hotel, everything that was thrown from this hotel was picked by the families and children…..lunatic.
I met a gentleman infront of my hotel – an Indian dentist, and we decided to help in a little way. Some food for all the families living at this slum that would last for a month was provided, mosquito nets, shoes, school needs and other basic items were also provided.
Dorfschulprojekt will examine the possibilities to help these kids in the future.
