“Thank you all” – this is an understatment. The past few months during the construction phase, with little budget available, we made it!! – We are really proud and the community would like to say more than “THANK YOU ALL” – this will continue to be a life-changing project for us all!! The good news for all of us is crystal clear; we are in the final stage to complete the construction of the sewing centre building. The security doors and windows were purchased last week CW33, and the mounting of these items have been planed to be done before end of August CW35. The exterior works, staircases and other minor works will be completed in the nearest future. The latter works would not disturb the commencement of the sewing centre. Our priority has been to finish the interior building, set-up the furniture and items (sewing machine, scissors, irons, tapes, pins, material, computer ….) required to kick-off the workshop. We intend to equip the workshop with 5 sewing machines and the items stated so we are able to begin with the training. The centre will be equipped to train 20 – 25 girls. The registration for the first year might be less. We have been able to convince and employ a good tailor (Mr. Nde), he will be the “director” for all activities regarding this centre. Mr. Nde runs a tailor shop in the Bamenda city. He will be transfering his business to Akumalam sewing centre, and devote all his experience to train the girls at the sewing centre. A giant success for the Dorfschulprojekt to win an experienced tailor, willing to drive the sewing centre to achieve the goals we set 9 years ago – sustainable development. Mr. Nde will start the transfer process beginning of september, he will be assisted with his co-worker. She will also be responsible for the sewing training program and execution of jobs offered by Mr. Nde’s customers. The students will also learn enormously from these customer specific jobs, which is an important aspect for the training program. The duration of this training programwill be 2 years, and a VERY small training fee (32€) will be charged, which will be implemented as running cost for the centre. (Training fees for tailoring at other workshops 120€ – 160€). Opening date: planed 20th September.

The first friendship cup in 2008 was a great success with 4 primary village schools. Likewise, the target of the second edition for the friendship cup in June/July 2014 is to encourage the pupils to participate in team sports and involving the youths and parents to support the pupils.
On the surface it appeared to be about recreation; however, we show the importance of togetherness through engaging various village communities in team soccer and fun.
The major question is, are we going to achieve the desired results. Our success of the last friendship cup and other activities continue to strengthen the togetherness and team development of the various villages projects.
Presently, 4 village schools, the residents of 3 villages will form 3 teams, and a second division soccer team (FC Bamenda) will be actively playing in two groups. Spectators of the tournament are expected from all the residents of the neighboring villages and the city of Bamenda. The games will be followed by dancing and celebration.
These 4 villages struggle over simple rights and difficulties to achieve better standards of living, communities with differing values – all will join together for a day to have fun and come closer. Pupils with diverse background, “rich” and poor kids will share a common value on this day – FUN. Our success will be evaluated over the coming years, how the community residents have been able to come together and support themselves, e.g. the sewing centre, and farm projects.
Awareness, greater love and one small step toward development should be achieved.
A village elder thanked the village project for the organization of the friendship cup in 2008 proclaiming that he now has made friends in his neighboring village, which he never thought so. They collaborate together to achieve other community goals.
Our village project will provide all sports equipments required for the friendship cup, we still require other soccer items and financial donation for transportation of these equipments to Akumalam.
Thanks to you all for supporting our projects,
