Friendship soccer cup – second edition
Apr 21st, 2014 by admin
The first friendship cup in 2008 was a great success with 4 primary village schools. Likewise, the target of the second edition for the friendship cup in June/July 2014 is to encourage the pupils to participate in team sports and involving the youths and parents to support the pupils.
On the surface it appeared to be about recreation; however, we show the importance of togetherness through engaging various village communities in team soccer and fun.
The major question is, are we going to achieve the desired results. Our success of the last friendship cup and other activities continue to strengthen the togetherness and team development of the various villages projects.
Presently, 4 village schools, the residents of 3 villages will form 3 teams, and a second division soccer team (FC Bamenda) will be actively playing in two groups. Spectators of the tournament are expected from all the residents of the neighboring villages and the city of Bamenda. The games will be followed by dancing and celebration.
These 4 villages struggle over simple rights and difficulties to achieve better standards of living, communities with differing values – all will join together for a day to have fun and come closer. Pupils with diverse background, “rich” and poor kids will share a common value on this day – FUN. Our success will be evaluated over the coming years, how the community residents have been able to come together and support themselves, e.g. the sewing centre, and farm projects.
Awareness, greater love and one small step toward development should be achieved.
A village elder thanked the village project for the organization of the friendship cup in 2008 proclaiming that he now has made friends in his neighboring village, which he never thought so. They collaborate together to achieve other community goals.
Our village project will provide all sports equipments required for the friendship cup, we still require other soccer items and financial donation for transportation of these equipments to Akumalam.
Thanks to you all for supporting our projects,
